Many of you may know of Doctor Goldilocks and her reputation in the science world. She has made many interesting and important studies and today I am here to report for the famous scientist who is out sick. As of late she has been investigating on a rather odd case, what kind of porridge bears eat the most. She recently found a cottage that obviously belonged to bears and with no answer after the knock she walked in. The first thing she did, as any decent scientist would, was begin making observations, or recording what she saw. The first thing she noticed was that there were three bowls of porridge on a table. Upon further investigation she discovered that one was "steaming like mad", the second had a thin coat of frost on it, and the third looked perfectly fine. As she determined this she began making inferences,or logical guesses on what may happen in the investigation. The first was that the steaming one was the hottest and that the one with frost on it was the coldest. Her second inference was that the bears would like the cold one the best. The great Goldilocks then decided to begin preparation for her experiment. She decided that her independent variable, or what she changed in the experiment, would be the temperature of the porridge. The levels of I.V. (independent variable), or how she changed things, would be 100 degrees, 0 degrees. Goldilocks now had to find a Dependant Variable,or what she is measuring in the investigation, would be the amount of porridge eaten by the bears. In order to measure the amount of porridge eaten she looked to the the spoons in the bowl and decided to make spoonfuls her unit of measurement. A unit of measurement is how you measure your dependent variable. As she began measuring she saw that the spoons were not the same size and only then did Goldilocks realize that she had forgotten an important step, the constants, or what has to stay the same in this investigation. She had to make sure that the spoons were the same size and that the porridge was made from the same mixture. Goldilocks now had to determine the purpose of this experiment. She wrote it in the common form of the effect of the I.V. on the D.V. and this is what it was, my purpose or what I want to determine in this experiment is the effect of the temperature of porridge on the amount of spoonfuls eaten by bears. Not bad huh? As Goldilocks was leaving with the intention of returning to conduct this experiment with the bears themselves, she ran into them! At first the bears were angry but soon after she explained her situation they were calmed and agreed to conduct this experiment. Goldilocks found out that bears like the normal temperature porridge at 65 degrees. She became sick soon after this and gave me her results to present them. So ending here I hope that doctor Goldilocks' findings will open up something new and assist science in the future!
